  • 1st at Welsh Championships
  • 1st at Welsh Series races in both XC and Enduro

Favourite venue:

Impossible to say! I always like riding a new race course or in a new area, and there are some pretty amazing trails up in Scotland, but to be honest the riding at home is up there as well. Snowdonia has so many good spots, but riding up and down Snowdon has to be one of the highlights.

How did you get involved in the sport:

I've always enjoyed riding my bike, but it was the races and sessions put on by Mike Tong and CBMDC (Conwy Valley MTB Club) that really got me involved. I started off doing local races, then Welsh MTB Series races that were near to home, and it all developed from there.

Top tips for future stars:

Be ambitious! Build up to your goals in small steps and always push yourself to achieve the next step. If you make a mistake or something goes wrong, learn from it, then move on - you can't change it once it's happened!

Other activities:

Skiing, Running, Surfing - any outdoor adventure sports really

Aspirations:

Short term: I want to get some sponsorship in the next year, win some more races and the Welsh Championships again, but mostly just enjoy riding and racing as it takes my mind off my A Levels!

Long term: I want to keep building on my results and eventually represent Wales at the Commonwealth Games

Your idol:

Nino Schurter - Multiple XCO World Champion

Any thanks:

Everyone at Welsh Cycling who has helped me, particularly Mike Tong, who works at a grassroots level in North Wales. All the volunteers at Marsh Tracks, Rhyl, where there is a great U18 racing scene with some real talent coming through. My coach has also helped me develop a huge amount over the last 3 years.

Most of all though to my parents for their continued support in every aspect of what I do.
