Based in the Dolgellau area, Breeze Coed y Brenin is a Mountain Biking group for women and hold regular rides to suit all abilities.
The group has been running for around 20 months and has proved successful in encouraging women to participate in cycling.
The hub was possible with the close partnership and support with partners like Beics Brenin, Outdoor Partnership and NRW.
Funding from the Outdoor Partnership has enabled the group to train many individuals to deliver and lead cycle outings.
Recently the group has appointed Becky Nokes to be the new North Wales MTB Hub Co-ordinator
Becky is an experienced Mountain Biker and will play a key part in the growth of our women’s hub at Coed y Brenin. Becky will be increasing the number of ride opportunities, plus organising bike maintenance workshops, First Aid and other useful MTB related courses.
Becky explains “Cycling can make so much difference to lives in so many ways. I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to help develop the group here at Coed y Brenin and, alongside Gaynor, help provide support, encouragement and a chance to learn new skills to any ladies who join us.”
The group is seeing a real demand for both beginners and intermediate coaching sessions and rides.
Becky is currently undertaking her L2 coaching course and will be looking to run women’s only coaching sessions and rides.
With the success of the 2017 Temtiwr women’s only event, planning is now underway to make the 2018 event even bigger. We are working with local partners to deliver a weekend packed full of activities for women.
Keep an eye on our website and social media for information on events and cycle rides.
